25.10.2021 11:07 | Press Release
“Full of colors, the development of perception and creativity – this is the new Painting Course for Seniors, which started in September at the Louka Community Center in SmÃchov,” says Councilor JUDr. Petr Lachnit.
Interest in art techniques grew in the first year, when a drawing course took place here. On it, seniors create compositions, with the technique of shadow, scale and other concepts, but in addition, they also experimented with colored pastels and watercolors. And that was the moment when the work with the colorful participants of the course was enthusiastic, which was an impulse for the further development of seniors in the field of artistic creation.
Thanks to the support of the SenSen Fulfilling a Dream project, the first lesson took place at the beginning of September, where twelve seniors set to work and began to fulfill one of their dreams – to try painting on canvas.

The painting course develops the participants’ skills of working correctly with color, looking and observing the motif correctly, searching for lights and shadows. The aim is not to learn to create a perfect “photorealistic” image, but to develop the ability to look at the object, teach the perception of the moment, the experience of the moment, bring experience with playing with color and relaxation and include time spent with others in creative activities.
In addition to practical skills, seniors will also get acquainted with interesting facts from the history of art or discuss current events in culture.
The course is divided into two parts. In the first, you will learn to work with color and the technique of placing colors on the canvas and try to recognize the motif of flowers. The next part already provides a freer creative approach, where the landscape will be processed into a larger format of the canvas so that the image will capture the relationship to the topic.
The meeting will take place until December this year, when it is also planned to organize a joint exhibition of created works in the premises of the Louka Community Center.
