Portugal will have agri-food products showcase at Alibaba – Marketeer
AICEP – Agency for Investment and Foreign Trade of Portugal is preparing to launch a showcase of products dedicated to the agri-food sector – which encompasses categories as different as fruit, flour or feed – on Alibaba.com. The new Portuguese Agrifood Products Aggregator will be officially unveiled next Wednesday, the 27th, and is the result of a partnership with one of the largest marketplaces in the world.
According to what is already advanced, this is an “innovative project on a national scale” that will bring together products from several Portuguese companies in a single web page on the Chinese platform Alibaba. This page will be owned by AICEP and will have joint commercial and marketing management.
One of the goals is to “reduce the financial burden of companies”, creating “proper conditions for a better performance in e-Commerce”. For this, an initiative is also born with the support of AMVOS Digital.
Also next Wednesday, during the presentation of the aggregator, an AICEP will unveil the results of a diagnostic report on the Portuguese agri-food sector, according to which online commerce without the food and beverage segment should grow by more than 8% per year. year to 2024. In a scenario like this, AICEP indicates that “the urgency of Portuguese companies to develop effective e-Commerce strategies in order to gain market position at this stage increases, as the increase in business volume will lead, in the medium term, to an increase in online competition”.
