Orientale lumen: Hungary’s most popular vocal series is coming to Debrecen again
Debrecen – The St. Ephrem Men’s Choir will perform at the St. Anne’s Cathedral in Debrecen on November 7 with opera singer Ingrid Kertesi and young talent who appeared in the Virtuosos 2020 program.
The title of the Orientale lumen concert II. The lecturers were borrowed from the apostolic letter of Pope John Paul, his central point is that just as man breathes with two lungs, so the church operates with two lungs, the eastern and the western. In the spirit of this, the concert will feature Byzantine authors such as János Boksay, Sergei Rachmaninov and Lesya Dichko, as well as emblematic works of Western culture such as Mozart Ave Verumja and César Franck’s Church Music Angelicusa – read on the Hajdúdorog Archdiocese.

The members of the Szent Efrém Men’s Choir will have an increasing role in the ensemble’s concerts, so Viktor Papp’s new Church Slavonic adaptation, Márk Bubnó’s Veni redemptor gentium suite and Tamás Bubnó’s Bartók adaptation can be heard by the audience. The artistic director of the ensemble made a piano piece “Evening at the Szeklers”.
The concert will feature the Lautitia Choir Family, led by conductor József Nemes, a permanent partner of the St. Ephrem Men’s Choir in Debrecen.
On November 7, at 7:30 p.m., the voice reverence will begin after the evening Mass. Entrance is free.
The program is supported by the Greek Catholic Metropolis, the Municipality of Debrecen and the Ministry of Human Resources.
