Officially sealed – permanent partnership with the Hanover region – Munich district
Officially sealed:Firm partnership with the Hanover region
The district of Munich and the Hanover region have officially sealed their partnership after more than 50 years of close ties. District Administrator Christoph Göbel (CSU) and Regional President Hauke Jagau (SPD) signed the certificate at a meeting in Pullach. Actually, the 50th anniversary of the previously unofficial partnership would have already been in 2020. But due to the corona there was no way to appreciate it. The district office announced that the Bundhand was officially sealed with one year.
The then district and today’s region of Hanover have been in close contact with the district of Munich since 1970. The starting point of the intensive communal exchange was not only a geographical commonality: Both districts encircle the respective state capital and had to struggle with similar challenges. The first meeting in January 1970 resulted in a regular exchange of experiences between the administrations and the political bodies. Every two years, topics such as regional planning, waste management, landscape protection, traffic planning and much more are on the agenda at the meetings held once in Hanover and once in Munich. Finally, there was also an exchange about how to deal with the Corona crisis.
