Oberhof wins at “Salzburg blooms”
The flower decoration competition “Salzburg is in bloom” has been decided. The state winner in the most beautiful farmhouse category was the Oberhof, which had been in existence since 1613, owned by Johanna and Christian Salchegger from Filzmoos. “Hanni has a special hand for flowers and deals with them every day. This is now known far and wide. That’s why many people come to the Oberhof flower show, ”says the proud husband.
The Salcheggers took over the business in 1984. In addition to the Oberhof, this also includes the Oberhofalm at the foot of the Bischofsmütze. The competent farmers ran the associated restaurant until 2006. After that, both of them fix the decision to only worry about agriculture and the large alpine pasture area. A total of 120 cattle and 100 sheep had to be looked after in addition to the main building and four holiday apartments. Galloway cattle were bred until 2017. “As a thank you for our life together, we started to build a chapel, Maria am Steineggl, in the Oberhofalm in 2015. It was inaugurated on June 5, 2016 by former Archbishop Alois Kothgasser, ”says Salchegger.
Since the handover of the farm to the successors Christoph and Karin Bliem in 2019, the couple have now devoted themselves to the splendor of flowers at the Oberhof. Both of them are very happy about the award. Johanna Salchegger says: “At first we were only told that we would get a certificate. When it turned out that we had made first place, the joy was very, very great. “
