Madeirense Américo Caldeira wins Skyrunning Portugal Cup – DNOTICIAS.PT
Lousã mountains, in Coimbra, hosted this weekend two competitions of the Skyrunning Portugal Cup, in the Vertical and Skyrace disciplines.
On Saturday, October 23rd, the Louzan 1000 race was disputed, in the Vertical discipline of the Skyrunning modality, with 1000m of positive slope and 7000 meters of extension. This competition ended the ranking of the Vertical Portugal Cup, where Madeiran Américo Caldeira (Clube Aventura da Madeira) won the national title, after finishing the competition in Lousã in third place. Vitor Jesus (CMoFunchal) was 5th in the competition and secured the second final place in the Cup of Portugal. Ricardo Gouveia (CAMadeira) also participated, having finished the Louzan 1000 in 4th position in the men’s competition.
In the women’s competition, Joana Costa (ADRAP) was third category, getting second place in the ranking, and Cátia Ficali was fourth, which could reach the third final position in the ranking.
It should also be noted that after this last competition, Clube Aventura da Madeira guaranteed victory in the National Club Trophy in the Vertical discipline, in which three dozen clubs participated.
On Sunday, the Louzan SkyRace 25km race was held, with emphasis on Cátia Ficali (Clube Aventura da Madeira) who finished the women’s competition in third position, Américo Caldeira (CAMadeira) finished in 8th position, Ricardo Gouveia (CAMadeira) was 11th and Francisco Freitas (ACD Jardim da Serra) finished the race in 22nd position. The Cup of Portugal in the Sky discipline also has three more competitions to be disputed until the end of the year, Cátia Ficali and Américo Caldeira in the dispute for the first places.
A highlight is also given to Eduardo Pestana (ACD Jardim da Serra) who participated in the final of the Junior Youth Portuguese Cup, reaching second position in the Louzan Skyrace Mini 16km race, which earned him second place in the Portuguese Cup. In this competition, the winner of the Madeira stage, Luís Gomes (CS Marítimo) finished in 4th place in the Lousã competition and equal place in the final ranking of the Portuguese Cup.
