The construction project for the third metro line in Toulouse continues to advance. State funding to the tune of 200 million euros has just been recorded by an agreement and the environmental component validated.
The last steps are being validated. The State financing agreement for the construction of the third metro line in Toulouse, to the tune of 200 million euros, has just been presented to the Tisséo union council. This sum was obtained thanks to the participation of the City in the call for “Sustainable Transport and Mobility” projects launched by the government last December.
The construction of the third line, 27 kilometers long between Colomiers and Labège, represents an estimated cost of 2.63 billion euros excluding taxes. “This financing agreement confirms the State’s commitment to contribute to the realization of the project”, declares Jean-Michel Lattes, president of Tisséo Ingénierie.
Favorable opinion on the environmental impact of the project
On the environmental level, Tisséo Communities has just received a first favorable opinion from the National Council for the Protection of Nature (independent authority made up of experts) for the construction. The latter measure that the measures intended to reduce the impact on biodiversity, or to compensate for its destruction, were sufficient. This validation is necessary before awarding the construction contracts for the line (scheduled for the end of 2022, the first calls for tenders being set for the end of 2021). In addition, a environmental public inquiry will be launched before Christmas. This concretely represents the last step before the start of the works.
