It was in front of a very well-stocked ice rink for a Sunday afternoon that this meeting between Dragons de Rouen and Jokers de Cergy-Pontoise took place. Building on their success over the Dukes of Angers two days earlier, the Rouennais with their jerseys in the colors of Pink October, entered the strongest in the meeting. With a fairly high pressing, the first opportunities presented themselves quickly for the locals. Caron, shifted by Lampérier, offered himself a first chance, but his throw missed the target (3’25). However, due to a careless error by the Normandy defense, Hordelay broke only with his wrist shot hitting Pintaric’s left upright (4’18). The Dragons resumed their march forward after this fear and pushed strongly in the offensive zone.
However, this did not lead to real scoring chances, but it pushed the Ile-de-France defense to manage several banned clearances. The first penalty was whistled against Johnston and would allow the visitors to loosen the opponent’s grip failing to be dangerous on Pintaric’s cage. The Rouen resumed their failure before and kept their opponents new in their defensive zone.
On a perfect serve from Vigners, Lampérier alone in the slot, resumed directly, but Ylonen saved his team with the end of the mitten (13’28). The Jokers reacted a bit with Tait who triggered Pintaric’s boot a few moments later (13 ‘). A new Rouen prison saw this time the players of Jonathan Paredes be dangerous, Pintaric winning twice in front of Levesque and Kearney (15’25). Then, it was the Dragons’ turn to benefit from a power play. The first could have been the right one, but the bar repelled Guttig’s quick throw (17’49) and the two teams would return back to back at the end of the first thirds.

Back on the ice, the Dragons were once again the first in action. Yeo called Ylon’s shoulder on a powerful slap (20’57). Globally recorded in the first, visitors must react. They would have the opportunity with a new penalty against the unruly Rouen (21’22). A first shot from Hordelalay worried Pintaric (22’03) who pushed back with his boot. The Slovenian doorman, on the other hand, could do nothing the center of Abramov which was deflected by the stick of Reynaud who unfortunately deceived his goalkeeper (0-1 / 22’37 / Abramov Ass. Rajamaki).
Stung by this opening of the opponent’s score, the locals set off again in the forefront. A Cantagallo throw was repelled with difficulty by Ylonen who made the double stops against Gilbert on the lookout on the rebound (23’45). The Rouen pressure increased in the following minutes, the actions followed on the cages of the Jokers. Flood (24’42) and especially Ye whose slap is this time the post (2545) were close to equalizing.
The Dragons would be rewarded a few minutes later, on a reward called against the players of Cergy, the action continued in the offensive zone and saw Gilbert find the top of the net of Ylonen who could not do anything (1-1 / 32’14 / Gilbert Ass. Tessier). The goal could have been refused because the cage had moved a little before. An equalizer, however, deserved for Rouen people who are much more enterprising than their opponents.
Moreover, the Dragons continued to press, and took the lead in the match thanks to a goal from Guimond came to support his attackers in the slot. Well served by Lampérier the Quebec defender deceived Ylonen with a nice backhand between the boots (2-1 / 33’38 / Guimond Ass. Lampérier and Caron). Logically, Fabrice Lhenry’s players took control of the meeting, but were going to be scared again. Dorion in the position of last defender temporized too much with the puck and was stolen the puck by Rajamaki who left, alone, beat Pintaric between his boots (2-2 / 34’19 / Rajamaki). Infuriating for the locals, but very well exploited by opportunistic visitors.
Vexed, the Normans set off again with a vengeance. Guttig awaits the bar this time (3722) after another good offensive streak. Frustrating. Not resigned, the Dragons pushed on and were rewarded. On a Cantagallo throw, deflected by Caron, Ylonen pushed back from the boot, but Lampérier in his office, converted the rebound into a goal (3-2 / 38’34 / Lampérier Ass. Caron and Cantagallo). A deserved goal for the locals who returned with little but in advance to the locker room.

Installed at the controls of the match, the Dragons had twenty minutes left to validate a new success in the Magnus League. The Jokers with only one but behind could still hope for a prestigious success on the ice of the defending champion. Melin tried a long shot which worried Pintaric (42’25), the puck passing in front of the cage after the rebound left free. A Flood penalty was a good opportunity for the visitors, but the defensive Pintaric did the job for the Rouen.
Rouen rounded back and did his best to give their opponents the least amount of space and easy shooting. Diffley however took his chance in the blue and saw Pintaric’s plate do the job (49’07). Rather serene, the Dragons feared on this rapid rise on the left side of Tait who served Abramov whose shot failed on the inevitable Pintaric (50’31).
The minutes passed and saw the Ile-de-France residents throwing all their strength into the battle. Sometimes jostled, the locals managed to launch a good counterattack. Johnston in the center the ice threw on the left Bedin who full ball took his defender of speed and the left skylight of Ylonen of a school reverse (4-2 / 55’52 / Bedin Ass. Johnston and Cantagallo).
The goal of the break and the victory for Rouen who were able to breathe. The Jokers tried everything to the end by bringing out their doorman three minutes from the end. This will have no effect on the scoreboard, as Guttig missed the empty cage 10 seconds from the end (59’50).
Another victory for the Rouen Dragons which records a new success in the Magnus league. Long to emerge, this success is however well deserved with many chances to score (3 posts). However, the indiscipline and certain individual errors, often cost dear to Rouen who still have to work on the jumps of concentration and consistency in the same match. Offensively, there has been better even if the absence of an offensive technical leader is sorely felt. The search for a “star” striker is still relevant …
Cergy side, the Jokers do not have to be ashamed of this defeat at the champion. Rather solid, the Jokers ended up cracking under the repeated assaults of their opponents without ever lowering their heads and offensively were able to be opportunistic. A place in the play-off being largely within the reach of this homogeneous workforce.
