Florence, at the Rifredi Theater Emma Dante and her ‘Misericordia’
The award-winning director from Palermo signs a bitter tale about the strength and fragility of women
The acclaimed director Emma Dante is the special guest of Rifredi Theater, a Florence. On Thursday 28th, Friday 29th and Saturday 30th October at 9.00 pm, the Palermo artist returning from the recent film success at the Venice Film Festival will present “Mercy”, A bitter fable about the fragility of women and their desperate and boundless loneliness.
Anna, Nuzza and Bettina live in a filthy and miserable studio, knitting during the day and prostituting themselves at night. With them is Arturo, the son of a dead mother: her man beat her to death, and he was born premature and unfortunate. In a ferocious world that condemns them to a hopeless tomorrow, the three women are still capable of love, up to the extreme sacrifice that will make Arturo, the piece of wood, a real child (info and reservations: 055 / 422.03. 61 – www.toscanateatro.it).
The show is an intense one-act, writing and direction by Emma Dante, with Italia Carroccio, Manuela Lo Sicco and Leonarda Saffi, historical collaborators of the director, and the dancer Simone Zambelli.
The activity of the Pupi and Fresedde Production Center – Rifredi Theater is carried out with the contribution of the Ministry of Culture, the Tuscany Region and the Municipality of Florence, with the support of the CR Firenze Foundation and Unicoop Firenze and with the collaboration of Libreria Florida and Hotel Raffaello.
