Zakharova: Russia rejects any insinuations regarding the position on non-recognition of Kosovo
Maria Zakharova
The authorities of the self-proclaimed Republic of Kosovo carry out provocative activities and misinformation injections aimed at questioning Russia’s position on non-recognition of the republic. This was stated by the official representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Maria Zakharova in her Telegram channel.
She said that two employees of the Pristina Chancellery of the Russian Embassy in Serbia left the territory of Kosovo, however, according to her, “a new provocation was immediately organized – disinformation injections were carried out, the purpose of which was to question Russia’s commitment to the UN Security Council 1244”.
“We strongly condemn such destructive behavior and reject any insinuations about an alleged change in position regarding non-recognition of the self-proclaimed Republic of Kosovo,” Zakharova said.
Earlier, the president of self-proclaimed Kosovo, Viosa Osmani, said that she had asked Foreign Minister Donica Gervale to declare Russian diplomats non grata in connection with their “foreign activities that endanger the national security and constitutional order of the Republic of Kosovo.” On Thursday, the Foreign Ministry made a decision on the undesirability of staying on the territory of the unrecognized entity of two officials, employees of the Pristina Chancellery of the Russian Embassy in Serbia.
The Russian Embassy in Serbia said that the decision of the unrecognized Kosovo authorities to expel two Russian diplomats has no legal force.
