Russia called for the protection of the UN Charter
Russia’s Permanent Representative to the UN Vasily Nebenzya called for the protection of the UN Charter. He recorded a video message and posted on Twitter the permanent mission of the Russian Federation at the organization. In the video, Nebenzya holds the UN Charter in his hands and reminds that the Charter contains the fundamental goals and principles of interstate interaction.
“Only by observing them can humanity move towards building a fairer, safer and more secure world and prevent new global wars,” says Vasily Nebenzya.
According to the permanent representative, today there are increasing attempts to revise the international legal norms established in the Charter, to promote a certain world order based on rules.
“Our common task is to stand up for the UN Charter.
October 24 marks the UN Day and the anniversary of the entry into force in 1945 of the Charter of the organization. The UN has officially appeared since the ratification of this document.
Vladimir Putin believes that it is necessary to make “more balanced”, but it is impossible to “destroy the basis”, including revoke the veto… In the event of such a cancellation, the UN Security Council will simply turn into a discussion platform.
