Pivot of RTP África says that Portugal is “structurally racist”. Interviewee disagrees.
The words of David Dias, the pivot of Canal RTP Africa, are echoing through social networks, and not for the best reasons. In an interview last Thursday on the program conversations to the south the former candidate for Lisbon City Council, Ossanda Liber, the interviewer referred to Portugal as a “structurally racist” country, something the Franco-Angolan who has lived in Portugal for 17 years did not agree.
“She has a very particular experience of living here, as an African woman living in Portugal, a country that is structurally racist. by the movement Somos Todos Lisboa interrupted the pivot. “Oh good, [Portugal] is it racist? “, asked Ossanda.
“I think structurally yes”, replied David Dias, who was then questioned by the Angolan: “But do you think?”, answering that he had “no doubts about that”.
At this point, Ossanda explained his opinion: “Look, I don’t think so. I think there are racist people, others who are disconnected, who don’t accept evolution, history. There are people who don’t like fatter people, shorter people. There is discrimination and intolerance in everything.”
The interviewee posted an excerpt from the report on her social network Twitter, saying that she always has “the answer at the tip of her tongue”.
@RTPAfrica – Conversations to the South – Part I
That recurring question for which I already have the answer on my tongue.
Do not insist on trying to make me say that this country is racist by the system. They won’t hear it from me. I would be lying! pic.twitter.com/Wmw3wvfRKF
