Innsbruck – In the only Saturday game of the bet-at-home ICE Hockey League, HC TIWAG Innsbruck celebrates a 2-1 home win over HC Tesla Orli Znojmo. Daniel Leavens and Zach Magwood score the home side’s goals. With the third win in a row, the Tyrolean improved to fourth place in the table.
Both teams went into the games with a sense of success, as Innsbruck (4: 3 in Bruneck) and Znojmo (5: 1 in Dornbirn) won not even 24 hours before the direct duel. On Saturday, the home side first took command and took the lead in the only power play of the first period by Daniel Leavens (10th). In a fast-paced encounter, Znojmo goalkeeper Dominik Groh saved his team from a higher deficit. The home side also set the tone in the middle section. The Innsbruck team created good chances and had the necessary luck with Zach Magwood’s 2-0 win when the disc went into the goal from a Czech skate. The 23-year-old Canadian scored in the third game in a row.
In the final section, the guests had better opportunities and created more danger for the goal of HCI goalie Tom McCollum. After Innsbruck missed the decision due to a great save by Groh, Adam Sedlak shortened to 2: 1 in the 57th minute. The guests took full risk in the final minute, but even with a sixth field player, the equalizer did not succeed. Thus, the fourth-placed HC TIWAG Innsbruck celebrated the third win in the series.
