Elite: ASVEL and Monaco collecting
Following the success of Boulogne-Levallois, ASVEL got the better of Châlons-Reims just like Monaco at Pau-Lacq-Orthez to come back up to the Ile-de-France region. Le Mans, for its part, a fourth defeat to the promoted Paris.
Boulogne-Levallois did not stay at the top of the Betclic Elite for long. Tombeurs d’Orléans this Saturday, the Metropolitans ceded first place in the standings to ASVEL. The Villeurbannais, after a bad patch and three consecutive defeats in all competitions, regained momentum on the occasion of the reception of Châlons-Reims. From the start of the match, Youssoupha Fall’s teammates (26 points, 11 rebounds) took control but the gap did not exceed seven points in the first quarter. It was not until the last moments before the break to see TJ Parker’s players exceed the ten-point lead, but only a few moments. On the return to the Astroballe floor, the Champenois tried to reverse the trend thanks in particular to Gani Lawal (18 points) but Châlons-Reims was never able to get closer than seven lengths, the gap to ten minutes from the end of the meeting. Without ever really mastering its subject, ASVEL did not lose track in the last quarter and resumed its march forward with a victory of sixteen points (94-81).
Monaco stays in touch
A record of four victories for one defeat, it is also that of Monaco after his trip to the floor of Pau-Lacq-Orthez. Like ASVEL, the “Roca Team” immediately took the lead on the scoreboard but could not outrun Elan Béarnais, who had three consecutive victories. Three-point income, Justin Bibbins’ teammates (15 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists) were able to sign a 5-0 to pass for the first time just before half-time, which Monaco has reached with a head start. The Pau regained their ground with a very different state of mind. Solid in defense with only six points conceded in ten minutes, Eric Bartechky’s players advanced in attack to approach the last quarter with a margin of nine points. But the end of the game was simply catastrophic with 18-0 conceded at the end of the game for a setback of eight points (66-74). With this third victory in a row, Monaco remains in the top three with ASVEL and the Metropolitans.
Le Mans wakes up and sinks Paris
After two consecutive losses, Le Mans had to react and the trip to Paris was undoubtedly the right opportunity to do so. Faced with a promoted who remained on his first victory in Betclic Elite, the MSB had the last word. From the first moments, Scott Bamforth’s teammates (20 points, 7 assists) stood out. to take an eleven point lead after the first ten minutes. Back to the wall, the Parisians hung on and did better than a good figure. The end of the second quarter about a permit to the teammates of Ryan Boatright (16 points, 5 assists) to come back to only two lengths at half-time. Paris even took the advantage a few seconds back on the floor … to better undergo an air gap and to concede a 13-1 allowing Le Mans to put themselves in good position for the end of the match.
