Dikaioulakos takes over the coaching duties of FIBA women’s EuroBasket co-hosted by Slovenia

The 52-year-old, currently also the head coach of the women’s Euroleague Beretta Famila Schio, replaces Damir Grgič, who performed this role for seven years and took Slovenia to their first women’s EuroBasket FIBA in 2017 and led it in the 2019 and 2021 editions.
Dikaioulakos offers a wealth of experience at the highest level not only because of his extensive club coaching career, which has put him on the sidelines with Fenerbahce and Nadezhda, but also from the international arena as a former coach in both Latvia and Greece.
“It is a great honor for every selector to receive such a national team invitation, especially when it comes to the national team of Slovenia, a country with such an excellent basketball culture, which continues to develop in all segments,” said Dikaioulakos.
“I am very happy to have become part of this national team and to write a common history with the players and colleagues. Personally, one of my goals will be to continue the very well done work of Damir Grgič.”
Slovenia, together with Israel, is hosting the FIBA women’s Eurobasket 2023. who also recently replaced the coach. Both host countries automatically qualify for the final round of the event.
Dikaioulakos will take over the team in the February qualifying window, where the matches against Turkey and Albania will take place, and tests against the other rivals of Group D Poland will follow.
