Covid-19: 123,000 people have already taken their third dose in Portugal | Coronavirus
About 123 thousand people have already taken the third dose of the vaccine against covid-19 in Portugal, according to data released this Sunday, in the latest situation of vaccination by the Directorate-General for Health (DGS).
Data from the DGS also indicate that 85.7% of the Portuguese population has a complete primary vaccination against covid-19 and that, so far, 279,000 flu vaccines have been administered.
The second phase of the vaccination campaign against a complaint starts on Monday, the 18th of October, and is aimed at people aged 65 and over and those who are not covered by the target groups of the first phase. The campaign is running in descending order of age, as in past years, having started with users aged 80 and over.
The DGS emphasizes that users will be summoned through an SMS to simultaneously take the vaccine against a complaint and against covid-19 or just for the first one (if not eligible to take the vaccine against covid-19).
“The scheduling will be automatic. There are cases, however, in which patients below the range are called [etária] which is open because they already meet all the eligibility criteria and not to delay the process”, clarifies the DGS.
It will be possible to self-schedule the flu vaccine and the third dose of the covid-19 vaccine in the Covid-19 Portal for people over 80 from Tuesday 26th October.
The DGS also emphasizes that “the rate of flu vaccination depends on the delivery of vaccines in the national territory and subject to adjustments according to the availability of vaccines”, it is foreseen that, from the beginning of November, “the number of vaccines available be enough to accelerate the pace of vaccination”.
