Arthur Cazaux says goodbye to Portugal with second title in three weeks
First in Setúbal, now in Quinta do Lago: the French Arthur Cazaux (323rd to do classification ATP) said goodbye this Sunday to Portuguese soil with a second title in three weeks by defeating the Japanese Naoki Nakagawa (626th) 6-3 and 6-4 in the final of the $25,000 ITF at Quinta do Lago, Algarve.
Decided to travel to Portugal at the last minute, after seeing the chance of participating in some tournaments on the Challenger circuit fall to the ground, the 20-year-old French prodigy – finalist at the 2020 Australian Open juniors – took advantage of the three weeks of competition, given that between the two titles he also reached the quarter-finals in Loulé (lost to the Portuguese Pedro Araújo)
At the end of this Sunday, settled in 1:31 am, Cazaux confirmed the status of second seed thanks to an almost perfect performance. In the service chapter, the young Frenchman stood out for winning 90% of the points played in the first service (against just 66% of Nakagawa), while in the answer he converted three of the eight points in break who created.
The title won at Quinta do Lago translates into Arthur Cazaux’s third in tournaments on the professional circuit and will be decisive for the French tennis player to stay at the gates of the top 300, not in the update of the classification this week, but the next.
