A white march in memory of Enzo, killed by a driver in Dijon
On Sunday June 27, 2021, a young Côte-d’Orien, Enzo, died in a road accident in Dijon. Almost four months later, a white march in his honor is organized by his relatives, starting from Place Wilson. Enzo, nicknamed “Sancho” by his football friends, would have been 21 this Sunday, October 24, 2021.
At around 2 p.m., a few hundred people, wearing white T-shirts, were gathered near the fountain, before setting off in procession. Flowers were placed at the scene of the accident, at the intersection of Boulevard Carnot and Rue de Mirande. The driver behind the accident, who cut him off by running a red light, must be tried in early January 2022.
“I don’t wish anyone to go through this, especially the mother of the youngster who did this to Enzo“, Jessica, Enzo’s mom
The white march ended around 3 p.m. Place de la Liberation, in Dijon. “I’m here for Enzo’s brother, for all our children, so that it doesn’t happen again“, explains Jessica, the mother of Enzo, further accentuated by the emotion of the walk.”It’s really very hard but it has to be useful“, she continues under the gaze of those close to her. It is nonetheless harsh for those who do urban rodeos:”they deserve a prison sentence, not a stay. Justice must be more severe“, insists the young woman who appeals to the Minister of Justice, Eric Dupond-Moretti.
“We need the sanction, we need the sanction, repeats Michelle, 64, whoever is caught committing a traffic crime, they take away their driver’s license, with an excessive fine.“Going further in the sanction is necessary according to her,”because there are destroyed families here. And the people who do that: I call them would-be murderers.“
