279,000 flu vaccines have already been administered in Portugal
Balance sent this Sunday by the General Directorate of Health (DGS) indicates that 279,000 flu vaccines have already been administered in the country, at a time when 85.7% of the population is immunized against a covid-19. About 123,000 have already taken the booster dose against the new coronavirus.
In a document sent to newsrooms, a recording by the DGS that the second phase of the vaccination campaign against a complaint, which arrived on Monday, is intended for citizens aged 65 and over who are not included in the target group of the first phase. Similar to last year, inoculations are taking place in descending order of age.
As in the first phase, which took place in homes, users will be summoned by SMS to take the flu vaccine and covid-19 (or just the flu vaccine) at the same time. “Scheduling will be automatic. There will be cases, however, in which patients will be called below the range that is open because they already meet all the eligibility criteria and not to delay the process”, he explains.
DGS advances even though self-scheduling for both vaccines for people over 80 starts on October 26th. Starting in November, “the number of vaccines available is expected to be sufficient to accelerate the pace of vaccination.”
