A weekend full of taste, culture and fun. Here are the events not to be missed.
Festivals and celebrations
In Pontassieve, in the hamlet of Le Sieci, the Mixed Fry Festival returns. On Saturday and Sunday you can enjoy fried meat and fish accompanied by crunchy vegetables, there will also be first courses and traditional specialties.
The Tortello and Porcino Festival brings the flavors and smells of autumn to Vicchio. Until Sunday you can eat handmade tortelli, tasty dishes with porcini mushrooms, the Mugello chestnuts cooked on the grill (the famous roasted chestnuts) and more mulled wine and castagnaccio. How not to mention the Chianina steak.
This will be the first of the four Sundays with the good chestnut market exhibition in Marradi. Appointment on 10, 17, 24 and 31 October. The festival has attracted thousands of visitors since the 1960s and is an opportunity to taste and buy the specialties of the undergrowth of the Tuscan-Romagnolo Apennines: first of all “Il Marrone di Marradi” IGP from Mugello. With the chestnuts are then made real specialties such as the famous roasted chestnuts called burnt, chestnut tortelli, chestnut cake, castagnaccio, chestnut jams, marrons glacés, and “bruciati” (roasted chestnuts).
This Sunday is also the first day in the company of the Sagra del Marrone and Frutti del Sottobosco in Palazzuolo sul Senio. Appointment on 10, 17, 24 and 31 October. The festival is an unmissable event for the territory that on this occasion can offer its specialties such as the Marrone del Mugello IGP, produced in various municipalities of the Upper Mugello including Palazzuolo, porcini mushrooms, mushrooms, truffles and many other products of the undergrowth both fresh and processed.
In San Godenzo, in the hamlet of Castagno d’Andrea, the appointment with the Ballottata is renewed on 24 October. The event will enliven and perfume the streets of the town with some local and seasonal specialties such as bruciate, burnt briache, ballotte, mulled wine, various sweets and of course chestnuts in various preparations.
Pelago Saturday and Sunday the seventh edition of the ‘Bollito Festival will take place. In addition to the great protagonists, the boiled meat and the great boiled meat, also the tortellini in broth, the tartar and green sauces to accompany the boiled meat and croutons with livers. The 28th Sagra delle Bruciate and Vin Novo will take place in Scandicci on Saturday and Sunday. Markets and fairs
Two days dedicated to craftsmanship and food and wine at the Certosa del Galluzzo. Saturday 23 and Sunday 24 October is time for “Artigianato alla Certosa”, the ideal appointment to find small and large accessories, and not only, such as bijoux and jewels, clothing items, bags and shoes, perfumes, cosmetics and food and wine specialties. Exhibitions and art
