Victor Lindelof explains how Sweden’s captaincy will benefit Manchester United
Victor Lindelof has moved to explain how Sweden’s captaincy will affect his daily activities.
The 27-year-old was selected by his national team after the European Championships 2020 this summer.
It came in the middle of questions about what role he would play at Manchester United this season – especially after they recruited Raphael Varane for 34 million pounds from Real Madrid.
After finishing second to Manchester City in the Premier League, key people in charge of transfers at Old Trafford issued a triple letter of intent during the summer window.
Jadon Sancho and five-time Ballon d’Or winner Cristiano Ronaldo came in to strengthen the club’s forward line.
Varane has meanwhile been sworn in as a long-term partner for captain Harry Maguire at 80 million pounds – while Lindelof has acted as deputy for these two during the recent injury interruptions.
He is in line to start against the bitter rivals Liverpool on Sunday afternoon as well, but what will the Swedish bracelet do for his all-round play on these beaches?
To talk to MUFC website, Lindelof said: “I am very, very proud to be captain of my country.
“It is a great honor for me to have the opportunity to become captain in Sweden. It is a great responsibility, but something I am very happy with.
“I have no problem with that responsibility either. I’m just trying to do my best and hopefully I can be a good captain for my country.”
Lindelof added: “Yes, I would say that [it will help United]. As I am as captain, I think I’m pretty calm. I take responsibility and I try to be a leader. I have gained some experience during my career so far, and I am just trying to help and be a leader on and off the field.

“I’m not the type to stand up and shout at you or anything like that. I try to show it on the pitch in my actions, with my presence and my calm.
“I think people feel that they can talk to me too and that they can listen to me when I talk too. I think that’s how I am as captain and also as leader.”
