The corridor through Černošice is in the process of EIA. Two crossings disappear, the main problem is noise
In Černošice, the track will be underpass at the relocation of road II / 115, in Radotín the same road will cross the overpass.
The Railway Administration (SŽ) continues its efforts to cultivate the railway corridor from Prague’s Radotín to Beroun. After long hours, it sent approximately six kilometers of track in the section from Prague via Černošice to the planned Berounka branch in Mokropsy to assess the impact on the surroundings. It was decided in April 2020 that the plan had to be thoroughly assessed in the investigation procedure.
The project envisages the reconstruction of the railway superstructure and substructure, bridges and traction lines. The Černošice and Černošice-Mokropsy stops will undergo significant modernization. They will get new platforms with a length of 220 meters and a height above the track of 55 centimeters. The two level crossings will be removed and replaced by level crossings. In Černošice, an underpass is to be built at the relocation of road II / 115, in Radotín, the same road is to be crossed by an overpass. For subsequent crossings, security with barriers will be restored.
A substantial part of the EIA documentation is devoted to the issue of noise. Although it will be reduced thanks to modernization and noise barriers, in some localities in Černošice in parallel with road traffic (Komenského and Sadová streets) it will still exceed the limits. The authors of the documentation therefore talk about individual anti-noise measures, such as a window or altered use of buildings. The ultimate tool can be the purchase of real estate.
The new Kosoř turnout will divide the Prague-Radotín line section – Berounka branch into two. “Its use will be mainly in the operational solution of operational situations or emergencies in operation,” wrote SŽ. The maximum speed in the section will be 100 km / h, after installation and start-up of the ETCS system 120 km / h.
The construction work should last 33 months, it should be completed in 2026. The costs approved by the Central Commission of the Ministry of Transport exceed three billion crowns, although two years ago the Railway Administration stated 1.3 billion. The growth explains, among other things, the need to build road relocations and level crossings.
The section through Černošice is the last one between Prague and Beroun, which will be the turn. Already last August, the Central Commission approved plans to improve 16 consecutive kilometers between the new Berounka branch and the Karlštejn station. In addition to the inter-station sections, the Dobřichovice, Řevnice, Zadní Třebaň and Karlštejn stations and the Všenory stop will be rebuilt. The construction, with an estimated total investment of over seven billion, successfully passed the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) and received approval from the Ministry of the Environment in June this year. The Railway Administration expects the construction work to begin in 2023, and to end three years later.
However, the first in line with SŽ’s implementation plans is the seven-kilometer section from Karlštejn to Beroun, which successfully passed the EIA process in April this year. The construction should take place in the years 2022 to 2024.
The solved sections are part of the Prague-Smíchov – Beroun line, which is one of the most problematic in the entire network. The track does not have enough capacity and frequent failures leading to train traffic collapses. In the future, the tunnel between Prague and Beroun should solve the problem, but until then the Railway Administration wants to gradually modernize the existing line.
