Return traffic at BER airport without major problems – BZ Berlin
In contrast to the beginning of the holiday, the return traffic at the capital city airport BER has been largely without problems this weekend.
“It’s going smoothly,” said a BER spokeswoman on Saturday afternoon. There are no long waiting times.
The airport expected around 190,000 passengers for the three days between Saturday and Sunday, the last holiday weekend in Berlin and Brandenburg, among other places.
It’s one of the busiest weekends since the pandemic broke out.
Due to personnel bottlenecks and the more complex controls in the Corona crisis, chaotic scenes occurred at the BER, which opened around a year ago, at the start of the holiday around two weeks ago.
Long queues formed in front of the check-in counters, and some missed their flight despite sufficient lead time. Travelers coming on the tarmac keep waiting for their luggage to get off the stairs and later.

Many employees are still on short-time work, they are now absent in important positions.
According to its own information, BER has therefore positioned itself differently this weekend and supports, among other things, the airlines with their own staff at the check-in counters.
At BER, it’s up to the airlines.
