To do this, Moscow needs to recognize that Russians and Ukrainians are separate nations living in sovereign states. Reports about it RBC-Ukraine with reference to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmytro Kuleba.
“I am convinced that we could have good neighborly relations with Russia. But it requires Russians to recognize the reality that Russians and Ukrainians are two separate, free nations living in their own sovereign states, deciding their own destiny, including the choice of development model and alliances, ”Kuleba said in an interview. Director of the Polish Institute of International Relations (PISM) Slawomir Dembski.
According to him, Russia does not want to recognize this and therefore in 2014 attacked Ukraine. As a result, thousands of Ukrainians died, part of the country was occupied by Russia. Such actions by Moscow destroyed the prospect of good neighborly relations between the Russian and Ukrainian peoples.
Kuleba recalled the thesis of Russian President Vladimir Putin that Ukrainians and Russians are “one nation.” According to the minister, this statement of the Russian leader is not true and is only an imperial phantasmagoria of the Kremlin.
“You have rightly noticed that this is a nationalist concept of the nineteenth century,” Kuleba added to Dembski.
