The head coach of the Russian national team Zoran Lukic answered the question about the imminent receipt of a Russian passport.
– There was information that you are going to get Russian citizenship… What is it for?
– Yes, the first steps in this direction have been made. But all this is not at all that close. These are plans for some perspective in the future. I want to say right away that I am not looking for any benefit in this. Neither I nor the club will receive any dividends from this, neither from the tax point of view, nor from any other. But a coach who has been living in Russia for more than 10 years and working with the team in the Russian championship may well have Russian citizenship. Moreover, from the system I feel like a Russian person. And for the Russian fans, an unconditional plus will be the fact that the national team will be led by a Russian, although not Russian, coach, and not just some foreigner.
Note that 50-year-old Lukich will combine the position in the team work of the head coach of Nizhny Novgorod.
In the near future, the specialist will announce the names of his assistants and announce the list of players called to prepare for the start of the selection for the 2023 World Cup.
