Covid-19 in Portugal: four deaths and 883 cases | Coronavirus
Portugal registered, on Friday, four deaths and 883 new cases of infection by the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus, according to the most recent data from the Directorate-General of Health, released this Saturday.
In total, the country accounts for 18,129 deaths by covid-19 and 1,084,534 confirmed cases since March 2020.
There are ten fewer people admitted to Portuguese hospitals, now accounting for a total of 274 patients hospitalized with covid-19. There are also five fewer people with illness in intensive care units, out of a total of 55.
According to data contained in the bulletin, Lisbon and Vale do Tejo account for 37% of new cases reported nationwide, with 329 more infected. The North region accounts for over 238 cases (27%).
A further 729 people have recovered from the disease, with a total of 1,035,450 now recovered. There is also a record of over 150 cases of infection, totaling 30,955 – this number results from subtracting the total number of patients recovered and deaths from the total number of positive cases.
Of the four deaths registered in the last 24 hours, two were in the Lisbon and Vale do Tejo area and two in the North. Among the fatalities, one woman was between 60 and 69 years old; one woman belonged to the age group between 70 and 79 years old; and two men were 80 years or older.
