The penultimate weekend of October began tragically. A car with a truck collided on the D8 motorway near Sedlec in the Central Bohemian Region on Saturday morning. One man died in the accident, two others were injured. Traffic in the direction of Prague is stopped until the rescue work is completely finished.
A car collided on the zero kilometer of the D8 motorway. “One young man died on the spot, the other two men are injured. One of them was transported to the Royal Vinohrady University Hospital with a moderate injury,” Petra Homolová, a spokeswoman for the Central Bohemian rescuers, told the TN.cz editorial office.
Homolová later added that the other wounded man was resuscitated. Afterwards, rescuers airlifted him in a very serious condition to the Motol University Hospital. The man was on artificial lung ventilation during transport.
Prague and Central Bohemian firefighters and police officers also intervene in the accident. “Due to a tragic traffic accident on the zero km of the D8 motorway, the road in the direction of Prague is completely closed during the rescue work, “police said on Twitter. It has already formed a long column on the motorway.
Firefighters had to rescue one of the drivers. “We managed to free the driver, who was handed over to the care of the emergency medical service,” the firefighters informed before 11 o’clock in the morning. The cause of the accident is not yet known.
