Austria has many faces | DiePresse.com
An extra thick holiday edition for the start of the autumn holiday about the contrasts of our country.
The editorial team went out for this issue. Out into the country, into the corner of Austria, in search of traces of the contrasts and fault lines that make up this country. An impulse for this special holiday edition came indirectly from Federal President Alexander Van der Bellen two years ago when he said about the Ibiza video scandal: “We are not like that.” Florian Asamer, the current “press” editor, then possible the specific ideas for this issue: “But how are we then?” Cap. But also the fault lines that die in the history of the country have been visible again and again. And even in the present, as you can currently see again in the vaccination debate, the government’s late evening announcements on Friday will mean that the death will pick up again (page 8).
Going out is not only part of the DNA of journalists, but also that of the “Presse am Sonntag” since it was founded in 2009. A first element has been the “360 ° degrees” series by Reporter Norbert since then Called. In this issue he returns with a trip through Austria, where shooting into a lake or pulling a tree trunk is tradition (p. 49). Even the best prepared edition WILL be caught up with current events. Like the new legal regulation of euthanasia in Austria, on which the government has agreed. Assisted suicide for seriously ill or terminally ill people is allowed from 2022. Ulrike has the details of the new death disposal law Wise researched. Read more about this on page 14.
