AC Milan scares Bologna but takes Serie A lead
As usual, AC Milan likes to complicate matters, but ended up winning in Bologna (4-2) this Saturday, on behalf of the 9th day of Serie A.
We had imagined that the suspense of this match was folded after 20 minutes. We were wrong. The Milanese, who led (2-0) at the break in numerical superiority, after the logical expulsion of Frenchman Adama Soumaoro (20th) and goals from Rafael Leao (16th) and Davide Calabria (35th), seemed to be heading towards a very quiet evening, peacefully even. But they too were wrong.
Victims of their complacency, the Milanese let Bologna return to (2-2) in the space of three minutes, after returning from the locker room. Zlatan Ibrahimovic, preferred to Olivier Giroud at kickoff, celebrated his first start of the season with a but … against his camp (49th). Musa Barrow then took charge of cracking down in the wake (52nd).
We were then waiting for the next chapter of this game with a completely crazy scenario. And after each team lost their nerves in turn, Bologna cracked again, through Roberto Soriano, leaving his teammates at 9 (58th).
It did not hurry the Bolognese to continue insisting, and to believe in an unexpected comeback. The liberating goals of Bennacer (84th), then Zlatan (90th), allow the Milanese to breathe, but do not erase everything. Beyond the victory, this match underlines the excitement of AC Milan for several weeks, and its difficulty in preserving a result. An inconstancy characterized by the scenario of its matches.
A week ago, Stefano Pioli’s men caught up with a two-goal deficit against Hellas Verona (victory, 3-2). Two weeks ago, they almost got caught up against Atalanta in the final moments, after having nevertheless believed to seal the outcome of the meeting (Bergamo returned to 3-2 after being led 3-0). Same story at the end of September in La Spezia, and a but of Brahim Diaz in the final moments (86th) validating the three points (2-1).
If these incredible scenarios continue to turn in their favor in the Championship, this lack of management could cost the Milanese dearly in the future, whose infirmary is increasingly crowded.
Dani Castillejo, injured in the hamstrings (45th) and Fodé Ballo-Touré (58th) victim of the violent tackle on the ankle of Roberto Soriano, join 9 other convalescent Milanese, including the two Frenchmen Mike Maignan (injured wrist) and Theo Hernandez (Covid).
This success, however, allows the Rossoneri to extend their unbeaten streak in Serie A (9 matches, for 8 wins and 1 draw) and temporarily take the lead in the standings.
Napoli will have to respond, at the dawn of a perilous trip on the lawn of AS Rome (6 p.m.), this Sunday. For its part, Bologna drops back to 10th place in the standings.
