Transport Online – Flanders wants corona booster shot for the entire population
BRUSSELS – The Flemish government wants to give everyone aged twelve and older the opportunity to receive a booster shot of the corona vaccine. The cabinet of Prime Minister Jan Jambon announced this on Friday. In this way, Flanders wants to increase protection against corona infection.
After all the over-65s, residents of homes and people with a second family, the rest of the population can also get a third shot. In this way, people who cannot or do not want to vaccinate and people for whom the vaccines work less well are also protected.
It is not yet clear when the broad booster campaign will start. This may be decided next week, Belgian media report.
Belgium
The coronavirus is spreading again in Belgium. With winter on the way, the picture shows that not enough people have been vaccinated yet to contain the virus. Not even in Flanders, where many more people have been stung than in Wallonia and Brussels.
The Netherlands makes the connection between particularly vulnerable people and the oldest. The administration of additional protection against the virus is controversial, because poorer parts of the world have not yet started vaccinating and are very short of vaccines.
