Still late for the arrival of CCTV cameras in the metro trains. On Wednesday, October 20, 2021, the trade union committee of Tisséo, the organizing authority for public transport in the Toulouse metropolitan area, which concerns more than a hundred municipalities, awarded the contract for the installation of these cameras to the group SPIE city network.
A 3.5 million euro market
A market which amounts to 3.49 million euros and which includes “an on-board video solution in all metro trains, and the software required for the use of video images, their administration and remote maintenance. », Specifies Tisséo.
The deployment of the system will be linked to the police services of the prefecture, as well as to the municipal police., who will have access to real-time images, as well as recordings, remotely.
An installation in 2020, originally
On the other hand, the camera installation schedule, “an essential tool and complementary to human presence, which will contribute to the tranquility of travelers and staff and will provide additional assistance to the safety and operation of the network”, considers Jean-Michel Lattes, president of Tisséo Collectivités, was further delayed. The installation plan for these 116 cameras was initially voted in April 2019 for the unveiling of a prototype and a gradual installation from 2020.
In the 116 trainsets of lines A and B
In April 2021, Tisséo indicated that the market was going to be awarded this fall, which is therefore chosen done. But the new installation schedule, announced in 2022 in the spring, has been turned upside down. From now on, the cameras will really enter the 116 metro trains (lines A and B) and the daily life of Toulouse from 2023, and their implementation will be gradual until 2024. “The 15 new updates collected from 2024 will also be equipped with cameras and the same system,” Tisséo concludes.
