After two years without any concert – the Covid crisis obliges -, the group of drum machine Toulouse Berywam was very happy to meet his audience at the Bikini, Wednesday, October 20.

If the health crisis allows them to expand their community on social networks, the group (made up of Beasty, Beatness, Rythmind and WaWad) is delighted to be able to find its engine: the stage. From now on, everything is connected: concerts (and in particular an Olympia in Paris) and a soon a first album eagerly awaited by the fans. Interview between two concerts with WaWad, a real man-orchestra of Berywam.

Back to Bikini: “It was special! ”

News: After such a long wait and many reports, this concert at the Bikini could finally take place! So, how was the reunion at home?

WaWad: “We were super delighted! Our biggest fear was that people would not come! Since the date has been postponed for two years because of the Covid, we really had this apprehension that people would forget or forget But everyone came and the concert was sold out. It was such a pleasure to find our city on stage, at the Bikini. Usually, we always invite people on stage. But this was special. , and we really decided to be only the four of us to find our audience. It’s been so long! “

We imagine that a Berywam show in 2021 compared to your last concerts of two years ago, it’s not quite the same, right?

W.: “A lot of things have changed, yes! Before, we were focused on the performance side on stage, with a lot of beatbox and impressive things. But we lacked this artistic purpose that we were looking for, namely to offer a real concert, a real musical show. This new show is a mixture of performances, music, laughter, emotions. And what has changed a lot is that we play our compositions which will be on our next album. So people can discover our new songs live, before the album is released. Us, that allows us to have live feedback, and it’s pretty great, especially since the feedback is super good! “

“Beatboxers at the Olympia, it’s unheard of! “

Your fall tour will take you to the Olympia, in Paris … It’s new for beatboxers, isn’t it?

W.: “Doing the Olympia, it’s still pretty crazy for us. Beatboxers who make the Olympia, it’s unheard of. We are really happy to play there!”

And this first album, then, where is it?

W.: “The album will arrive in a little while. For us, it was unthinkable to release our album until there was a concert. We really wanted to wait until there were more concerts to be able to defend our album on stage. We do not yet have an official release date, but the album is finished and will be really soon! new collaborations, which resulted in features on the album, with national and international artists. we had is that we reworked the whole album with 20syl, from the group C2C. He is one of the best album directors in France and we were very lucky to meet him in studio. He took our album where we wanted it to be and we’re really, really happy about that. “

10 million subscribers on TikTok…: “it’s crazy! “

The Covid has still allowed you to expand your community on the networks.

W.: “We will soon reach 10 million subscribers on TikTok, we have passed 3 million subscribers on Youtube, we are at over 2 million subscribers on Instagram and 1 million on Facebook. There has really been an explosion during this Covid year, it is moreover the only positive choice that emerged for us from this Covid crisis. very beneficial for us. It allows us to make many artistic encounters and to expand our community all over the world. ”

Reaching nearly 10 million subscribers on TikTok, how do you feel?

W.: “When you look at the numbers, it’s pretty maddening! When we opened our TikTok account last year, we really didn’t think we would have that many subscribers. 10 million subscribers is a seventh from France … it’s crazy! And it just keeps going up! ”

What will be your program after the fall tour?

W.: “We’re going to add dates in the spring! We’re building a tour with our production company, Bleu Citron. Now that it’s picking up, we’re not going to let go of the concerts and the stage. And we hope to be able to have the chance to touring festivals next summer, in France and abroad “.

W.: “We decided to stop. our artistic purpose! ”
