The number of foreigners working in Slovakia is growing again: It attacks the 70,000 mark
The number of foreigners working in Slovakia increased slightly again in September.
Last month, 69.2 thousand foreigners worked in Slovakia, which was 429 more than in August. The number of foreigners earning money in our country has been steadily declining from February last year until March this year. Last February, 78.2 thousand citizens from other countries worked for us. This follows from the data of the Center for Labor, Social Affairs and Family of the Slovak Republic.
The largest group of foreigners working in Slovakia are still Ukrainians. Last month, 325 more of them were added to the Slovak labor market, bringing the total number of Ukrainians working in our country to 19.5 thousand. The number of Serbs working in Slovakia last month decreased by 30 people to 9.8 thousand. Among the citizens from the countries of the European Union, Slovakia had the most Romanians, of whom almost 7.5 thousand worked in our country, followed by Czechs with 6,000 workers, and in third place were Hungarians, whose work in Slovakia came to 5.1 thousand.
Three out of ten foreigners in Slovakia worked in Bratislava at the end of last month. 22.2 thousand foreigners were employed in five districts of the capital of Slovakia. This is followed by the district of Trnava, which in the same period registered 4.5 thousand employed foreigners. The Labor Office in Malacky reported 2.1 thousand working citizens from other countries. On the contrary, only 12 foreign nationals worked in the Medzilaborce district at the end of September.
