Metaller-KV: Workers threatened with strike
business
After the third round of negotiations on Thursday for the collective agreement with the metal workers was unsuccessful, the union is threatening consequences. If the employers do not increase their supply, the workers want to go on strike at the beginning of November.
The workers recently demanded an increase in wages and salaries of 4.5 percent. So far, the employer side has offered just over two percent.
The workers’ side was angry and ready to fight after the wage negotiations on Thursday. For the time being, there is no new meeting date for the fourth round of negotiations. The employers’ offer was a mockery, the union chief negotiators said literally. The union was not interested in a degree, the entrepreneurs were uncomprehending.

What will now follow is a labor dispute, said Daniel Mühlberger, the Salzburg regional manager of the production company PRO-GE. The employer’s offer of 2.1 percent will not be accepted. “Accordingly, there will be works meetings next week, where we will also pass resolutions on warning strikes so that we should go into the first warning strikes at the beginning of November if there is no longer a new negotiation date from the employers and a significant increase in the offer on the part of the employers.”
If the warning strikes recommended for November 3 to 5 are of no use, further measures will be taken, added Mühlberger.
In the state of Salzburg there are around 10,000 employees in the metal industry. Your collective agreement has been the benchmark for negotiations in other industries for years. The talks are turning out to be more difficult today than last year due to the significant rise in inflation and the economy.
