Malta Extends Travel Ban on Unvaccinated Travelers From 101 Countries
Malta has decided to extend its travel ban which is currently applied against unvaccinated travelers from all over the EU / Schengen Area and 67 third countries worldwide.
Such a decision means that all those who do not have a valid vaccination certificate or other equivalent document will not be allowed to enter the territory of Malta, reports SchengenVisaInfo.com.
According to the latest update published yesterday, October 21, by Malta’s official travel portal, VisitMalta, the travel ban will continue to apply to all countries of the European Union and the Schengen Area. .
In addition, the travel ban will also remain effective for dozens of other third countries, some of which are Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom, and Australia, among others.
Even if the country has decided to maintain strict entry rules for those who have not been vaccinated or recovered from COVID-19 disease, certain exemptions will still apply. Persons unable to receive the vaccine for medical reasons are allowed to enter the country until they present a negative COVID-19 test result within 72 hours prior to arrival.
In addition, children under the age of five are also exempt from the requirement to present a vaccination certificate. They are also released from the testing requirement.
In addition, cargo, humanitarian, and repatriation flights, cargo ships and other container ships containing essential goods and commodities also fall on the list of exemptions, regardless of their country of origin.
Those who do not have a COVID Certificate and need to enter Malta for absolutely necessary purposes can also do so. However, they are required to follow the rules of self-isolation immediately upon their entry.
On the other hand, the country allows unrestricted entry to all travelers holding a valid EU COVID-19 Digital Vaccination Certificate or other equivalent document. In order for a vaccination certificate to be considered valid in Malta, the document must indicate that the holder has been fully immunized against COVID-19 with one of the vaccines approved by the European Medicines Agency (EMA).

In addition, the Ministry of Health of Malta also noted that vaccination certificates showing that a person has been vaccinated with two EMA-approved doses by different manufacturers are also recognized as long as the doses reach the framework of time required between each other.
In addition, except for the presentation of a vaccination certificate, everyone must complete a Passenger Locator Form.
“Every person traveling to Malta from the list of countries listed in this order, whether by air or sea, shall, on arrival in Malta, provide a Passenger Form (PLF Form),” emphasized the Maltese authorities.
