“Freiheitstrychler” support demos in Liechtenstein
Opponents of the measures against the corona virus are also taking to the streets in the Principality of Liechtenstein. These are supported by the «Freiheitstrychlers».
the essentials in brief
- In Liechtenstein there is a demonstration against the corona measures every Monday.
- 3G and the mask requirement are a thorn in the side of many.
- The movement apparently receives support from the Swiss “Freiheitstrychler”.
In Bern in the last few weeks there have been demonstrations against the measures against the corona virus every Thursday. In the Liechtenstein capital Vaduz, critics of the measures have been taking to the streets every Monday for six weeks. In doing so, they receive support from the “Freiheitstrychlers”, as the “Neue Zürcher Zeitung” reports and can be seen in pictures from the Ländle.
The group seems to be campaigning against the corona measures not only in Switzerland. In the Principality as well as in this country, a certificate is required in bars, restaurants and co. As well as in the areas of culture, entertainment, leisure and sport. A mask must be worn in public transport.
Since the introduction of the certificate requirement, the criticism of the measures has become louder. The Monday demos have now taken place six times. The opposition party “Democrats for Liechtenstein” is also among the critics: This is particularly annoyed by the fact that the Covid regulation has been amended a total of 41 times.
Have you ever been to the Principality of Liechtenstein?
In contrast to the demonstrations in Bern, there were no major incidents in the first five demonstrations in Vaduz. But the vocabulary of the skeptics is also cause for concern in Liechtenstein. The tone of voice becomes rougher.
Police chief Jules Hoch sees the rhetoric of the demonstrators as a danger. Because: As in Switzerland, the government is confronted with allegations that it is committing war crimes with the corona measures imposed. Highly feared that at some point a right of resistance could be derived from this.
However, the Monday demonstrators seem to be a loud minority: According to a survey published by the Liechtenstein Institute, only 29 percent largely reject the measures against the corona virus. In return, 69 percent attribute good to very good crisis management to the Liechtenstein government.
