Climate crisis as the main topic at the ÖVP state party conference
politics
The ÖVP state party conference will take place in St. Johann im Pongau on Friday afternoon. The main topic is climate policy. Incidentally, the Salzburg state party congress takes place without the new Federal Chancellor and also without the ÖVP federal party chairman – that is rather unusual.
Neither ÖVP Federal Chancellor Alexander Schallenberg nor ÖVP Federal Party Chairman Sebastian Kurz will be there on Friday afternoon in St. Johann. In the past it was not uncommon to use such stages.
According to the ÖVP state party chairman Wilfried Haslauer, it was planned like this: “It was set long before Sebastian Kurz resigned as Federal Chancellor. That has absolutely nothing to do with this current political development. ”For this, a minister with Salzburg roots, Karoline Edtstadler and Martin Kocher, are approaching.
ÖVP will build wind turbines
In terms of content, climate policy is in the foreground on Friday, also owing to surveys, according to which the climate crisis is the greatest challenge for 93 percent of Europeans despite the CoV pandemic. So another mass tourism is clearly rejected. When it comes to energy, the ÖVP has a new goal. Initially, five wind farms, each with three to ten wind turbines, are to be built in Salzburg.
In addition, the election of the ÖVP state party leader is on the program. Wilfried Haslauer is standing for re-election. According to reports, he should win the election again.
