Christmas market this year with registration and “3-G”

All visitors who consume something at the Christkindlmarkt will probably have to register and show a “3-G certificate”. The organizer’s CoV concept currently provides for this. However, this has not yet been officially determined; the federal government is still waiting for a detailed ordinance.
In contrast to Rupertikirtag in September, the Christmas market in Salzburg’s old town is not fenced off with barriers. After the presentation of the federal winter tourism coronavirus regulation, this has been clear since Wednesday. Instead, it will come down to an Internet registration and a “3-G control” on the market, said Mayor Harald Preuner (ÖVP).
“3-G proof” only for hungry and thirsty people
However, this control only applies to those people who die on the spot to eat or drink something. “But if I go to a normal stand and buy a few candles or other Christmas decorations, it is currently the stand that you no longer need the ‘3-G control’.”
As on Rupertikirtag, there will be wristbands for registered visitors. You can get these tapes at a tent on the Alter Markt or directly at the food and drink stands at the Christkindlmarkt, as soon as you have presented a “3-G certificate”.
Rising numbers of CoV infections
That is currently the status of the planning, said Wolfgang Haider, chairman of the Christkindlmarktverein. Depending on the CoV measures and the applicable ordinances of the Ministry of Health, this plan can still change. In any case, time is of the essence, said Haider, because work on setting up the Christmas market will start next week.
