BASKETBALL: JDA Dijon will not be able to defend its title in the Leaders Cup
The decision to cancel the 2022 edition of the competition was taken this Thursday, October 21 in the general assembly of the National Basketball League.
While it was canceled in 2021 due to the pandemic, the 2022 edition is this time canceled for economic reasons, such as the implicit announcement of the LNB (press release to be found below). JDA Dijon will not be able to defend its title but will hold it for one more year.
The last players to have won the trophy at Disneyland Paris are indeed the basketball players from Dijon. To crown a very good run in this competition, they won with a score of 77 to 69 against ASVEL at the Disney Events Arena on February 16, 2020.
The National Basketball League still suggests that the Leaders Cup will be back in 2023.

Press release from the National Basketball League:
General meeting of 10/21/2021
Meeting at the Annual General Assembly this Thursday morning, the National Basketball League has decided not to launch the 2022 edition of the major mid-season event, the “Leaders Cup”, which takes place each year in February in Disneyland Paris.
This decision was motivated by the need felt by the clubs to present a cautious recovery budget, for this first “hoped-for” post-COVID season, after two exercises which had a strong impact on the League.
The Leaders Cup is an imminent event to which the LNB, its Disneyland Paris clubs are very attached, and do not want to preserve the power and the quality.
The National Basketball League and Disneyland Paris have the common will to maintain their long-standing partnership and to offer in optimal quality conditions the best basketball show, family, with a well-prepared edition, and respect the model and standards that made his success, starting next season.
