Brno – Art and science unites the seventh year of the Prototype festival, which will last until Sunday at the Brno Exhibition Grounds. Its main part is the exhibition of works of art and objects using modern technologies – such as virtual reality, 3D printing or robotic elements. The authors are students and artists from the Czech Republic and abroad. The Prototype also includes lectures and creative workshops.
A large part of the exhibit consists of interactive lighting or sound installations. At the exhibition center, those interested can also watch an endless, computer-generated fairy tale. The Brno Observatory has supplemented the Prototype program with its mobile planetarium, an inflatable model of the Earth or an enlarged nanostructure inspired by electron microscope images.
This year, the prototype is part of an umbrella event called Brno Creative Days. It also consists of Maker Faire and the Game Industry Exhibition and, according to the organizers, is the largest creative fair in the Czech Republic, dedicated to artists, inventors, scientists and technology enthusiasts, as well as the general public and families with children.
The second year of Maker Faire on Saturday and Sunday will offer experiments with modern technologies at the interface of craft and science. Visitors will be introduced to over 80 enthusiastic creators, ie so-called creators. “Maker Faire is a varied event full of energy, inquisitive people and amazing inventions. We are distinguished from other events mainly by personal contact with the creators and the opportunity to achieve and create things for fun,” said organizer Vojtěch Kolařík.
On Saturday and Sunday, visitors to the exhibition center can also visit Hall A1 for the Game Industry Exhibition. They will learn about the history and present of the field, try out well-known game titles that originated in the Czech Republic, as well as pranks from independent studios and individuals. Those interested can find the entire program on the web www.brnocreativedays.cz.
