91 percent of city employees in Antwerp are fully vaccinated | Antwerp
AntwerpOf the 7,600 city employees of the City of Antwerp, 91 percent are fully vaccinated. That is no better than the general vaccination rate of the working population (18-64 years) in Flanders: it is 89.8%.
According to the city, this figure is due to a thorough information campaign for employees and residents through various channels: “And good internal awareness-raising from different layers of the organization to the employees. The communication and prevention service, as well as colleagues, managers and trade unions, all contribute to raising awareness among employees to be vaccinated,” it sounds from the city.
Rail East
The major operation at the Spoor Oost vaccination center also encouraged staff to get vaccinated: “The great involvement of city employees in the establishment, organization and supervision of the test villages and vaccination centers. Many city personnel worked in the vaccination villages and test centers. They took on the role of ambassador and recognized the importance of a high vaccination coverage.”
New system
The government is starting a system with the occupational physician in a company with at least 50 people who can check the vaccination rate. Due to privacy and medical secrecy, the occupational physician monitors the anonymity of the data. Due to the GDPR regulations, no individual data is available. The data can only be consulted per company. If the vaccination coverage in an organization is (too) low, the employer can work out a plan together with the trade unions to encourage employees to develop more skills to be vaccinated. Thanks to the high vaccination rate, the city of Antwerp does not need to take extra action.
