Toulouse: there will be six new children’s rides in the neighborhoods, we tell you where
The city of Toulouse is launching a call for projects for the installation of new rides. The Marengo, Roseraie, Minimes, as well as Tibaous and Ponts Jumeaux districts are concerned. The town hall made a profit to transform the authorizations of the existing rides, with precise specifications.
The children’s rides at Place Wilson, Joan of Arc, Jardin des Plantes, and Raymond-VI Gardens are among the most popular and renowned in Toulouse. Despite the pandemic, the 9 or so rides in Toulouse resisted. Toulouse city hall will issue new installation permits. A call for projects was launched on October 14, and interested managers have until November 15 to submit their application.
Six new rides will be authorized, from January 1, 2022: Place du Marché aux cochons, near the Minimes metro station; in the Parc de la Violette, route de Launaguet, in Lalande; Place de la Légion d’Honneur, at the foot of the Marengo arch; in the Vincenzo-Tonelli square, in front of the Roseraie metro station; Place des Tibaous, in this recent district in the southwest of the city; rue Cécile Brunschvicg, in the Ponts-Jumeaux district.
“A merry-go-round is social bond”
“A merry-go-round is social bond. It is a convivial space, often associated with the sale of coffees or sweets. Parents meet there, but also childminders. In certain neighborhoods, such as the Minimes. which have 40,000 inhabitants and 14 schools, there were none. It will be chosen with this call for applications, “explains Cécile Dufraisse, deputy mayor of Toulouse, in charge of the file.
In addition, the nine existing rides must also submit a file for their authorization to occupy the public domain, for a period of 1 to 7 years. In theory, they could even be put in competition with other applicants, whereas until now their renewal applications have been reviewed every year. The nine rides concerned are the four located in the Jardin des Plantes, that of the Place Wilson, on the corner between the rue d’Alsace-Lorraine and the rue de Rémusat (Jeanne d’Arc), both of the Compans-Cafarelli garden , and that of the Raymond-VI garden. “All the current managers were invited to a meeting recently. They are aware of the call for candidates, and accept the conditions”, points out Cécile Dufraisse.
“It is my livelihood, I invested money for this merry-go-round, I’m going to put together a case”
“This is an unprecedented situation for us. We will have to put together a file, motivate our project, add photos. We are going to do it, because it is our livelihood that depends on it. I have invested money. for this merry-go-round, it is important for me to continue to use this space “, reacts the owner of a downtown merry-go-round. He adds that the installation of new managers in the outlying districts will not be “easy” for the new operators, given the limited frequency of certain places chosen by the town hall.
