The delegation of the Republic of Moldova in the JCC claims that “lately Transnistrian structural representatives have entered freely into the area of responsibility of the Joint Peacekeeping Forces, where they resort to illegal detentions and abductions” – Ziarul de Garda
At the meeting of the Unified Control Commission, On Thursday, 21 October, the Moldovan delegation warned that Tiraspol was constantly ignoring the relevant provisions of the Agreement on the Principles of Peaceful Settlement of Armed Conflict in the Transnistrian Region of Moldova, signed on 21 July 1992, as well as other documents of peacekeeping on the Dniester River.
During the meeting in Bender, delegations continued discussions to include on the agenda of the Unified Control Commission the issues that endanger the situation in the Security Zone, one of the most important being to ensure free movement.
It was mentioned that illegal “border” posts remain an obstacle to the free movement of citizens, and lately Transnistrian structural representatives have entered the area of responsibility of the Joint Peacekeeping Forces, where they resort to illegal detentions and abductions.
The delegation of the Republic of Moldova, that such actions violate fundamental human rights and destabilize the situation in the Security Zone, and the JCC must intervene to end them.
“The delegations of the Russian Federation and the Transnistrian regions have a different approach to the issues, insinuating that it does not fall within the competence of the Unified Control Commission. Therefore, the formation of the agenda of the ordinary sitting was blocked. In order to examine the organizational issues, an extraordinary meeting was held, being confirmed in the functioning of a new Chief of Staff of the Joint Military Command. ”.
