Prague’s budget for 2022: It will not be endangered by a possible temporary state, says the councilor
“We definitely want to approve the city budget in December. The approval of the state budget of the Czech Republic is not a necessary condition for the approval of the budgets of regions and municipalities, and therefore city districts. The state provisional most likely, even if it did, will not mean that standard types of state subsidies, such as those for direct costs in education, would not flow into regions and municipalities, so there will most likely not be a major problem here, “said Vyhnánek.
According to Vyhnánek, the management of Prague prepares the budget conservatively. “Therefore, in it we count only on the income from this mentioned school subsidy and further on the state contribution for the transferred performance of state administration. Other subsidies, if the expenditures related to them are part of the budget, we traditionally pre-finance, this is our normal procedure, “he said.
The principle between the municipality and the city districts does not work between the state and the capital. In the event that the municipality starts the following year in a provisional budget, even city districts cannot vote for their budgets until the city-wide approval is approved. Their functioning is directly dependent on the budget of the capital as a whole.
At the end of last year, the representatives of the capital approved the budget of the capital as a whole with revenues of 79.1 billion and will spend 89.15 billion crowns. During this year, revenues were increased to approximately 86.24 billion and expenditures of 101.62 billion as of June 30. The difference will cover Prague, among other things, from money from the state.
State budget
This week, the current incumbent government re-approved the draft state budget next year with a deficit of 376.6 billion crowns. Due to the parliamentary elections, he had to approve it again, and he must also submit it to the House again. However, according to Sunday’s statement by the candidate for Prime Minister Petr Fialy (ODS), the emerging government wants to compile a new state budget for next year with a deficit of up to 300 billion crowns.
