Prague 10 traditionally supports a campaign called Let’s Clean Up the Czech Republic. Volunteer activities were focused on cleaning the public space and this year lasted until October. there were 1.8 tons of waste removed. The tenth part of the city owes its involvement in cleaning not only to its inhabitants, but also to organizations that motivated employees and co-workers to take action.
The Clean Up the Czech Republic event took place throughout the country on the weekend of September 18 and 19. But some volunteers later joined the idea. For example, Skanska employees planned cleaning on October 7, around Heldova Street.
It was cleaned in the Bohdalecký forest and around Botič
But that was not the only place where cleaning was done. According to the deputy mayor Jana Komrsková (Pirates) also disappeared during the traditional cleaning in the Bohdalecký forest, in the vicinity of Botič in Vršovice, in the area of the future railway promenade in Strašnice or in the forest near Hamerský pond.
“Here, volunteers from the association of organizations Prague Integration Center again take part in the cleaning of public space. In total, we know of sixty citizens who cleaned up voluntarily. We really appreciate their activities,“Added Komrsková, who is in charge of the environment. Together with its representative club, it itself participates in the cleaning of the emerging Railway Promenade.
“In addition, I know from meetings with our citizens and regular communication with them that many individuals and associations with waste reduction, in general environmental protection, are dedicated conceptually and on a long-term basis. I believe that events like Let’s Clean Up the Czech Republic attract even more people to these activities, “Added the deputy mayor.
For a long time, the Ten has been emphasizing waste reduction and environmental education. In April this year, it prepared an almost two-month campaign for its citizens called April without waste. It also attracted the attention of the expert jury and won the Municipal Project of the Year 2021 award in the Ecological Project category.
The city hall also offers ongoing support for those who want to contribute to the cleanliness of their surroundings. The dozen have stably prepared bags or gloves for volunteer cleaning.
