Monaco wants to organize karting races on the Promenade des Anglais in the summer of 2022
It is a full-scale project that will see the light of day in Monaco by August 2022. The Monaco eKart Championship is coming to the automotive world.
This project was born from its founder Clivio Piccione, a former driver who has been operating an electric kart track for 10 years in Monaco.
The first desire is to create something new in this discipline, a true passion of the Monegasque. With his collaborators, he focused his research on a product that could meet a specific demand in the world of competition. That’s when the idea of the electric kart hit the table. The goal is to come to compete with the thermal kart, currently alone on the karting market, and mainly to respond to increasingly important environmental issues, by creating this 100% electric formula.
A partnership with the brand of Charles Leclerc
An innovative solution which also makes it possible to go into motorsport both the spirit of competition, but the educational side, and the ecological aspect. Clivio Piccione would thus be the first to organize a 100% electric championship. The objective is also to put equity between the pilots back at the center of the debate.
We know, in this automotive world, a lot of things depending on the financial aspect. With this eKart Championship, it is the drivers who will have all the attention they need, not the machines. The first desire with this championship is to provide all competitors with the same equipment.
It is in this sense that a partnership has been set up with the brand of Charles Leclerc, Monegasque driver at Ferrari who began his career with karting. Clivio Piccione considers this association very important: “We want to play the Monaco card 100% with this partnership with Charles Leclerc. This brand will ensure the entire championship with the same engines, settings and tires for all competitors.”
Another revolution, since the budgets will be the same for everyone, with this real ambition to place the pilot at the heart of the action.

Three age categories will emerge for this new event. Youngsters from 7 to 11 years old, juniors from 11 to 14 years old, and seniors from 14 years old. With the study, the creation of a “baby” section for 5-7 year olds. The powers of the machines will vary according to the categories.
The founder of this project wants to educate the youngest: “We want to old and educate young people in the practice of electric karting in relation to this new mode of consumption. We want to establish these strong values of everyday life.”
For the six championship races scheduled for 2022, the circuits are planned in town. There will be three stages in Monaco, another in Menton, one in talks in Italy, and another possibly in Nice.
The contacts are advanced with the Town hall of Nice, for a formidable circuit on the mythical Promenade des Anglais. Something to impress young, experienced and emerging pilots, before switching to possible European championships from 2023, and why not world championships very quickly!
