The Principality responded present during the first part of the Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity (COP), which took place from October 11 to 15 in Kunming, China.
Preserving global biodiversity: an essential fight to save the Earth. Faced with this observation, China, which called for the presidency of the 15th COP, is invited by the international scene to all possible efforts to strengthen environmental protection.
The Principality of Monaco participated in the COP at political, ministerial and diplomatic levels. The Department of Equipment, Environment and Town Planning (DEEU) and the Department of External Relations and Cooperation (DREC) were able to explain the environmental projects undertaken in Monaco.
Céline Caron-Dagioni, Government Advisor and Minister of Equipment, Environment and Town Planning, was present throughout the COP by videoconference. In particular, she participated in the round table: “Placing biodiversity on the road to recovery”.
The opportunity to recall how biodiversity is an essential challenge for cities, which help to enrich the environment and save humanity in the face of global warming. Urban development in favor of biodiversity is a priority in the fight against the impoverishment of flora and fauna.
