The government would destroy local governments with further withdrawals, says Gergely Karácsony, the mayor of Budapest, in a post published on his community page. As he writes, one proposal would be for the government to raise the minimum wage by exempting employers from the full business tax.
For the Metropolitan Municipality, the business tax is the only source of revenue, and although I strongly agree that the minimum wage should be raised and businesses should be helped, they should do so for their own account and not to the detriment of the municipalities.
