The decline in the number of employee jobs follows a period of continued job growth. Between 2011 and 2019, the number of jobs in the Caribbean Netherlands increased by an average of 5 percent per year, the average annual increase by an average of 2.3 percent. From 2019 to 2020, the number of employee jobs decreased by 1.7 percent with a population increase of 3.3 percent. How this is related to the consequences of the corona crisis has not been investigated.

Jobs of young people decreased most in number
Viewed by age, it was mainly the jobs of young people that disappeared. Both absolute and free, the decrease was greatest in jobs occupied by 15 to 25 year olds. There were also fewer jobs for people aged 45 to 55 and to a lesser extent for 25 to 35 year olds.
