1. FC Köln II against RWE: That’s why a draw is unlikely
On Saturday (23 October, 2 p.m.) the U21s of 1. FC Köln Rot-Weiß Essen will host the Regionalliga West. The last matches show: Both teams always play to win.
If on Saturday Red and white food to the U21 of the 1. FC Cologne drives, then the team of coach Christian Neidhart still has one bill open. Last season there was a painful defeat just before the end of the season. Am 40th matchday traveled RWE as table leader to Cologne and lost 1: 2 in the Franz-Kremer-Stadion. Followers Dortmund II won at the same time in Straelen and also the following catch-up games, the end of the story is known: Rot-Weiss Essen remained a regional league.
Now it’s back to Cologne for RWE, again as the championship leader. The previous record in a foreign country speaks for a victory this time: Essen won all of its five away games last season.
The last draw between the two teams was over five years ago
However, Cologne II is a strong home team. Four of the five games at home could be won by the second representation of the Domstadters in the Franz Kremer Stadium. But even if home strength meets away strength, there will probably not be any point sharing.
At least the results in the past speak for this. In 30 duels there were only six draws. RWE has won 17 times, seven wins went to Cologne. It becomes even clearer with a look at the last few games:
The last draw was over five years ago. In the 2015/2016 season there was a goalless 0-0. The teams in the Regionalliga West faced each other in ten games and there was always a winner at the end. The tendency from these games speaks clearly in favor of Rot-Weiß Essen: eight wins and only two defeats.
